New Breed of SAF Troopers take their Oaths of Office
HEADQUARTERS SAF, CAMP BAGONG DIWA, BICUTAN, TAGUIG CITY – 370 members of SAF Recruit Class 2020-01, the first batch of recruits this year, took their oath of office with PMGEN AMANDO CLIFTON B EMPISO, Director, SAF as the appointing authority and Keynote Speaker. The activity was witnessed by some members of the SAF Recruitment Board, and SAF personnel in Headquarters SAF and its co-located battalions.
The said batch named as “MAG-ALAB”, or “Maglingkod Alay ang Buhay” is composed of 263 males and 107 females. The successful applicants were appointed with the rank of Patrolman and Patrolwoman in temporary status and shall be appointed in permanent status upon the completion of their training. In addition, they shall receive their monthly pays and allowances mandated for them.
They were chosen among the 1,090 applicants from all over the country who reported last October 2019 at ARMD, Headquarters SAF. They underwent five phases of recruitment process in order to select the best and most qualified applicants based on the standards set by the Philippine National Police and NAPOLCOM.
In his message, PMGEN EMPISO welcomed the new recruits to the SAF family, and emphasized how fortunate they are to be part of the PNP’s most dependable tactical unit. He also added what SAF is especially on its well-known discipline and accomplishments on anti-criminality and anti-terrorism operations and how the troopers embody selflessness and self-sacrifice when needed.
The good director also shared his own story and the experience of his underclassman during their cadet days in the Philippine Military Academy. Further, he recited the “Don’t Quit” poem and challenged the new recruits to remain strong and firm amidst the difficulties and hardships of training as those are just tests of character and personality.
Lastly, he encouraged the members of the training staff and all members of SAF to impart their skills and knowledge so that the recruits may become competent and committed public safety officers.
The said recruitment is part of the 631 PNP Attrition Quota for Calendar Year (CY) 2019. They will add up to the present strength of SAF to help the PNP and the government in its fight against insurgency, terrorism and lawlessness in the country.
At present, SAF is processing the remaining 263 recruits to complete the said attrition quota and the additional 200 Regular Quota for CY 2020 (1st Cycle) and still accepting new applicants.
