Nine SAF Commando Classes Graduates, More SAF Battalions Completed

           PMGEN AMANDO CLIFTON B EMPISO, Director, SAF formally declared the graduation of the SAF Commando Course (SAFCC) Classes 91 to 99-2018 students through a modified and virtual ceremony in observance of the new normal and in consideration of the health and safety protocols on the COVID-19 pandemic today (June 5, 2020) at Headquarters SAF, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City with PMGEN EMMANUEL LUIS D LICUP, The Director for Operations, PNP as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

          The said students were recruited in response to the order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte through Presidential Directive No. 2017-0322 to create additional five SAF battalions to suppress insurgency, terrorism, and other threats to national security. The new breed of SAF Troopers will be deployed in the newly activated SAF battalions in the areas of Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Central and Eastern Mindanao likewise, a number of them will complement the personnel requirement of other existing battalions based in the different parts of the country.

            Joining the graduating students in the ceremonial donning of the SAF black beret were the honorary members of the SAFCC Classes namely: PMGEN LICUP; PMGEN ISRAEL EPHRAIM T DICKSON, The Director for Integrated Police Operations-Visayas; PMGEN JOSELITO M VERA CRUZ, The Director for Information and Communications Technology Management; PMGEN ROBERTO B FAJARDO, Director, Civil Security Group; PMGEN ARNEL B ESCOBAL, The Director for Integrated Police Operations-Eastern Mindanao; and PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, Regional Director, National Capital Region Police Office.

                Gracing the event also includes PMGEN JOEL NAPOLEON M CORONEL, Director, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and PMGEN ALFRED S CORPUS, The Director for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao, both part of the pioneers of the Philippine Constabulary Special Action Force (PC SAF) in the 1980s, as they welcome their PMA Hinirang Class of 1987 classmates to the noble SAF family.

                PMGEN SINAS also turned over 1,500 sets of PNP athletic uniform as a simple gratitude to the newly graduated SAFCC students in their participation during the “Traslacion” held last January 2020.

                 SAF as the primary maneuver unit of the PNP shall continue the conduct of counterinsurgency and counterterrorist operations and remains to be relied upon in crisis situations anywhere in the country to protect the nation’s democracy in support to the PNP’s program under the leadership of PGEN ARCHIE FRANCISCO F GAMBOA, Chief, PNP.
